Gary Hunter, one of the firm's shareholders and a leader in land use and growth management legal and legislative issues, was quoted in a recent article in the St. Petersburg Times regarding the status of growth management issues in the legislative session in Tallahassee this spring. Mr. Hunter stated in the article that the status of growth management issues for this year and next year "will depend on whether Amendment 4 gets 60 percent of the vote, as the law now requires for passage." Amendment 4 (also known as Hometown Democracy) is a proposed amendment to the Florida Constitution that would change the process for land use and growth management decisions, requiring local governments to organize and fund a referendum election for proposed changes and development, rather than allowing local government elected officials to make those decisions.
