HOPPING GREEN & SAMS HOSTS SYMPOSIUM ON BIOENERGY AT FLORIDA ENERGY SUMMIT IN ORLANDO
In partnership with the Florida BioEnergy Association and other organizations, Hopping Green & Sams co-hosted a bioenergy symposium prior to the opening of the recent Florida Energy Summit in Orlando Florida. The symposium focused on current issues in the use of biomass for the generation of electricity and steam and for the production of biofuels in Florida. Specific topics discussed involve the combustion of woody biomass for the production of electricity, the use of biomass fuels in the Florida cement industry, waste to energy projects, federal financial assistance programs for such projects and the federal Renewable Fuel Standard program. The seven panelists addressed their recent experiences in the development and permitting of such facilities in the state, from obtaining agency permits and approvals, to entering into power sales and off-take agreements, and in building public support for these projects. The symposium attracted a wide range of interested attendees, which led to a lively discussion about hot topics in this emerging industry.
